Developer Evangelism Intern

Salary: $35,000 - 55,000 per year Requirements:

• Were looking for someone currently studying or recently graduated in computer science, data, or a related field, with hands-on exposure to databases, pipelines, or data infrastructure through coursework or personal projects.
• Youre comfortable speaking with people and would enjoy representing us at events or responding to community questions.
• You can write clearly and simply, ideally with experience explaining technical topics in a README, project write-up, or blog post.
• You have some involvement in developer or open-source communities, such as an active GitHub profile, participation in Discord or Slack, or posts shared online.
• Youre based in the US, can travel to regional meetups and conferences, and are comfortable working asynchronously with a mostly online team.
• Helpful: Youve given a talk, workshop, or demo, even to a small audience.
• Helpful: Youve contributed to an open-source project through code, documentation, or another form of contribution.
• Helpful: Youre familiar enough with the subject matter to read benchmarks and discuss CDC and Iceberg with minimal explanation.

• Represent OLake at US meetups, conferences, and community events; take notes, capture conversations, and follow up with contacts.
• Give lightning talks or demos when opportunities arise, and help prepare talks and materials for other team members.
• Develop relationships with event organizers, meetup groups, and data engineering communities to build an ongoing presence for OLake.
• Participate meaningfully in developer communities such as Reddit, Slack groups, dev.to, and Hacker News by answering questions and contributing without simply pitching.
• Write migration guides, tutorials, and how-to materials that help people use OLake in production.
• Help manage our publishing calendar across LinkedIn, X, and YouTube by drafting posts, selecting visuals, and publishing on schedule.
• Adapt long-form materials such as documentation, release notes, and talks into shorter social posts and threads.
• Monitor competitor activity and discussion around Iceberg and data engineering, including audience concerns and feedback.
• Support newsletter and creator partnerships, including sponsorships, co-marketing, and guest content.
• Track relevant metrics such as qualified traffic, trials, signups, and engagement to assess the impact of content and events.

More:

Were building OLake, an open-source CDC ingestion tool that replicates production databases into Apache Iceberg lakehouses and helps maintain them. Our audience includes data engineers and data platform teams. This internship is for students and recent graduates interested in learning evangelism and distribution through hands-on work, with an emphasis on events, community participation, and useful technical content rather than desk-based campaigns. The role is remote and based in the US, within our Marketing / GTM team. Youll lead our US presence while working asynchronously with a team based mostly in Bengaluru, which will support you remotely. The internship starts unpaid; if it works for both sides, there is a path to a paid contract and potentially a full-time role, based on performance.
