Lead Grounds Maintenance Engineer - Full Time - Days

Job Summary Location: Methodist Women’s Hospital Address: 707 N 190th Plaza – Elkhorn, NE Work Schedule: Mon‑Fri 7am to 3:30pm Supervises the grounds operations at Methodist Women’s Hospital and Medical Office Building. Responsibilities Operates and maintains power equipment and manual equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications, conducts preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, and makes repairs to ensure equipment is always in good working condition. Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, and landscaping at all Health System facilities by cutting, edging, aerating, trimming, planting, mulching, and other services, paying attention to detail to ensure a professional appearance to patients, visitors, staff, and the general public. Removes snow and treats icy conditions on parking lots, sidewalks, steps, and other assigned locations using trucks, tractors, bobcats, sanders, hand snow blowers, shovels, and other related tools to provide a safe external environment. Picks up trash and yard waste at Health System facilities following departmental procedures to ensure a professional appearance to patients, visitors, staff, and the general public. Maintains parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks on Health System properties by power washing and sweeping to ensure a safe environment. Records daily work activity by entering work into the system program (ISIS) for accurate reporting. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment following policies and procedures to keep equipment in working condition. Participates in mandatory in‑services and continuing education programs as required by policies and external agencies. Understands and operationalizes the mission, vision, core values, employee standards of behavior, and policies/procedures. Assists POMG leaders with management duties such as hiring, training, coaching, counseling, mentoring, corrective action, terminations, and evaluations to ensure competent staff within the grounds department. Assists with the daily operations of the grounds department by managing staff and identifying training needs to ensure consistent quality and productivity. Assists with scheduling staff to ensure duties are covered on a daily basis, using overtime appropriately to meet work demands. Maintains inventory of parts, supplies, snow and ice melting products, ordering as needed from established vendors to ensure availability for repair and maintenance. Negotiates and schedules service and repair work with outside vendors, monitors vendor performance to ensure contractual obligations are met and completed on time. Schedule Mon‑Fri 7am to 3:30pm Job Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience 1–2 years of experience operating and maintaining large power equipment (Bobcat, front‑end loaders, 4x4 trucks, power sweepers, snow blowers, tractors, chainsaws, and weed trimmers). 1 year of experience in lawn care/horticulture. 1 year of maintenance experience in sprinkler systems, automotive, and/or small engine systems. 1 year of snow removal experience. 1 year of welding experience preferred. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. License/Certifications Valid current driver’s license. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Knowledge of general grounds maintenance. Basic computer skills. Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers. Ability to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents. Ability to travel to various locations. Skill in planning, delegation, time‑management, and problem‑solving. Physical Requirements Weight Demands Medium work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
