Assistant Contract Manager

Job Description Our client is a non-profit organization. They seek a temp Assistant Contract Manager to join their Manhattan, NY office. Responsibilities Review and approve client grant requests to ensure compliance with funding requirements, supporting documentation, and appropriate expense allocation Monitor grant funding balances, spending activity, eligibility requirements, and award restrictions across government and private funding sources Allocate grant expenditures to the appropriate funding streams while ensuring compliance with budgets, agency policies, and grant guidelines Reconcile grant expenditures, payroll, accounts payable, and other financial transactions to award budgets and funding sources Prepare grant-related journal entries, expense reclassifications, reimbursement requests, and supporting financial documentation in Workday Assist with government contract invoicing, fiscal reporting, award reconciliations, and contract spend analyses Produce financial reports, budget-to-actual analyses, funding trackers, and supporting schedules for program management and grant oversight Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Contract Management, and program teams to resolve funding, coding, and compliance issues Maintain organized grant records and provide documentation to support audits, monitoring reviews, and regulatory reporting requirements Identify opportunities to improve grant accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance financial reporting accuracy Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field At least two years of experience in nonprofit accounting, grants or contract management, government invoicing, or a related financial role Demonstrated hands-on experience with Workday Financial Management is required Experience with Workday Grants Management, Awards, Award Costs, requisitions, manual journals, and financial reporting is strongly preferred Knowledge of cost-reimbursement government contracts, nonprofit fund accounting, grant restrictions, allowable costs, expense allocation, and budget-to-actual monitoring Experience reconciling detailed financial activity and preparing journal entries or expense reclassifications Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and accuracy JobID: 48513 Company Description Abacus Group is an award-winning executive search firm specializing in the permanent, temporary, and temp-to-perm placement of Accounting & Finance, Public Accounting, Administrative Support, Compliance, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, and Information Technology professionals across all industries.
