Inspection Technician | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $41,000 - $64,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Kentwood that are seeking skilled Inspection Technicians. Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product specifications.
• Document inspection results accurately in quality management systems and maintain detailed records.
• Identify and report non-conforming materials or products, initiating appropriate corrective actions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Conduct first-article inspections and in-process checks to monitor manufacturing processes.
• Operate specialized inspection equipment, including CMMs or optical comparators, as required.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, or a related technical field
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Proficient in using various inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformities
• Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CMM or other automated inspection equipment.
• ASQ certifications (e.g., CMI, CQIA).
• Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC).
