Our undergraduate and graduate programs are consistently recognized as the best in the nation, leading the way in mechanical engineering education and innovation.## PurposeA postdoctoral research position is available in the Nanoassembly Lab at the University of Texas at Austin focusing on the physical chemistry and dynamics of polyelectrolyte complex micelles (PCMs) for nucleic acid delivery.## Responsibilities* PCM assembly and characterization (in collaboration with partners)* Kinetics measurements (fluorescence, SAXS)* Data analysis, modeling, and design rule development* Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students* Scientific communication (writing, presenting, etc.)## ## Required Qualifications* Ph.D. in materials science, chemical engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, or a related field received within the past 3 years.* Demonstrated experience in soft matter characterization and/or physical chemistry of polymers.* Ability to work well with cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams.* Ability to manage and lead collaborative projects and communicate results effectively in writing and presentations.## Preferred Qualifications* Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), quantitative light scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, nucleic acid chemistry, or polymer synthesis.* Excellent written and oral communication skills are extremely important, along with a demonstrable ability to reach a variety of audiences in academia, industry, and government.## Salary Range$63,537## Working Conditions* May work in standard office conditions* May require repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation* May require use of manual dexterity* May work around chemicals* May work around electrical and mechanical hazards* Lifting and moving## Resume/CV* 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor* Letter of interest**Important** **for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers:** You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
