Responsibilities include: Assist with food preparation, including washing, chopping, slicing, portioning, and organizing ingredients Prepare meats, vegetables, sauces, marinades, rice, sides, and other menu items as directed Help prepare menu items according to Shiraz recipes and restaurant standards Follow prep lists and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Label, date, rotate, and store food items properly Stock and organize prep areas, coolers, dry storage, kitchen stations, and supplies Assist with receiving and storing deliveries Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed Maintain clean and organized workstations, prep areas, storage areas, and kitchen equipment Sweep, mop, take out trash, and assist with general kitchen cleaning duties Restock ingredients, supplies, and packaging materials as needed Follow all food safety, sanitation, handwashing, and health department requirements Support line cooks and kitchen staff during busy service periods Perform other kitchen duties as assigned Qualifications: Previous kitchen, restaurant, food service, or prep experience preferred, but not required Willingness to learn Persian cuisine and Shiraz restaurant procedures Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Dependable, punctual, and hardworking Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team Ability to follow directions, recipes, prep lists, and kitchen standards Basic knife skills and food safety knowledge are a plus Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and consistency Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Reliable transportation preferred California Food Handler Card Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a busy kitchen environment for extended periods Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as chopping, washing dishes, stocking supplies, cleaning work areas, and unloading deliveries Comfortable working in a warm kitchen environment around cooking equipment Comfortable using basic kitchen tools and equipment safely What We Offer: Pay negotiable based on experience and skill level Receives Tips Family meal available during eligible shifts Opportunity to learn Persian food preparation and kitchen procedures About Shiraz Restaurant: Founded in 1986, Shiraz Restaurant is a family-owned Persian restaurant rooted in hospitality, tradition, and community.
