Senior Database Engineer

Database EngineerWe are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer with strong expertise in SAP ASE/Sybase and Linux to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in database administration, automation, and performance tuning, with additional experience in Redis and Postgres being a plus. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing databases to ensure high availability and performance in a Linux-based environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration: Install, upgrade, tune, and patch SAP ASE/Sybase, Redis, and Postgres databases.Performance & Monitoring: Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries to ensure high availability.Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Ansible to streamline database operations.Database Design: Design and implement new databases based on business requirements and user traffic.Replication & Recovery: Set up and manage database replication and disaster recovery processes.Data Integrity & Security: Manage data access controls, audit trails, and ensure compliance with data governance policies.Troubleshooting & Debugging: Identify and resolve platform-specific performance issues and coding errors.Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular performance reports and provide recommendations for system improvements.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with application teams and infrastructure engineers to align database strategies with business goals.Required Skills & Experience: 7 years of experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator (DBA). Expertise in SAP ASE/Sybase – installation, configuration, tuning, and support. Strong Linux experience – working in a Linux-based environment (not Windows). Experience with database replication, setup, troubleshooting, and failovers. Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python, or Ansible). Hands-on experience with Redis and Postgres is a plus. Experience with schema creation, deployment, and maintenance. Strong understanding of performance tuning and query optimization. Knowledge of disaster recovery setup and maintenance.
