Position Summary:

The SAFE Program Manager will provide strategic and operational oversight for the Safely Advocating for Everyone (SAFE) initiative, a trauma-informed violence prevention and response program serving individuals impacted by firearm violence and systemic disconnection. This role leads a multidisciplinary team of street outreach workers, case managers, and crisis responders to ensure high-quality, culturally competent service delivery across historically underserved communities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, mission-driven leader with a strong background in program management, community engagement, and crisis response. This position requires a commitment to justice, equity, relationship building, and navigating complex, high-risk environments with professionalism and compassion.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the SAFE program, ensuring goals, compliance, and quality standards are met.
• Maintain a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to service delivery.
• Hire, train, and supervise outreach and case management staff.
• Coordinate onboarding and ongoing staff training in trauma-informed care, cultural competency, safety protocols, and program-specific requirement
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide reflective supervision, and foster team resilience.
• Facilitate regular interdisciplinary team meetings with outreach workers, case managers, and victim advocates to coordinate service delivery and review client progress
• Serve as primary liaison with law enforcement, hospitals, schools, local officials, and community organizations.
• Represent SAFE at public safety meetings, coalitions, and partner events.
• Guide the development and monitoring of individualized support plans for housing, employment, therapy, school re-entry, and legal navigation.
• Ensure effective coordination for individuals impacted by non-fatal shootings, homicides, or threats of violence.
• Oversee and lead deployment of staff to critical incidents, including shootings and homicides, ensuring adherence to trauma-informed and safety protocols.
• Ensure all client documentation is completed accurately in the designated system (CareLogic) per agency and grant standards
• Track and evaluate participant outcomes and program performance metrics to support continuous quality improvement and funder reporting
• Ensure program implementation and reporting align with grant requirements, including deliverables outlined by IDHS and other funders
• All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred in public health, social work, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program supervision or violence prevention.
• Skills:
  • Prior work with justice-involved individuals, victims of firearm violence, or historically marginalized communities
  • Experience with grant-funded program operations and compliance
  • Experience managing teams and working in community-based settings.
  • Strong documentation and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and data tracking skills.
  • Trauma-informed and culturally competent approach.
