Our organization is in search of a board-certified Infectious Disease Physician to take on the role of Hospital Epidemiologist at our medical center, as well as the Chief Infection Control Officer (CICO) for our healthcare system.

This leadership position merges clinical responsibilities in Infectious Diseases with strategic oversight in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology throughout our healthcare network. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in providing leadership for infection control initiatives across the organization. • Participate in the inpatient consult service for the Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

• Work alongside senior leadership to establish infection prevention objectives and metrics that align with current standards and organizational goals.

• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.

• Educate staff, clinicians, and trainees on infection prevention policies and strategies.

• Collaborate with the Infection Prevention team, quality assurance, and analytics teams to track infection trends, safety incidents, performance outcomes, and assess the effectiveness of interventions, including overseeing the surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

• Lead efforts in outbreak prevention, investigation, and response.

• Promote research and innovation in infection prevention.

• Coordinate epidemic preparedness and outbreak responses through strategic collaborations with hospital leadership.

• Partner with infection prevention leaders and teams to align evidence-based practices aimed at enhancing patient safety and clinical outcomes.

• In conjunction with clinical leaders at various institutions, advance a system-wide agenda for infection prevention performance improvement, ensuring consistency, regulatory compliance, and adaptability to emerging infectious threats.

• Represent our organization in national, regional, academic, and public health discussions focused on infection prevention and pandemic readiness.

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for healthcare programs across our system.

• Offer oversight and support to our compounding pharmacy.

• MD or DO with Board Certification in Infectious Disease.

• Proven experience in Infection Prevention, Hospital Epidemiology, and healthcare quality and safety initiatives.

• Demonstrated leadership experience within complex healthcare organizations or systems.

• Experience collaborating with diverse physician groups, clinical leaders, and healthcare teams.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

• Dedication to clinical excellence, education, mentorship, and academic growth.

• Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

• At the medical center: Dual reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief of Infectious Diseases.

• Within the healthcare system: Collaborative relationships with leaders across the organization.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $282,000 to $325,000 . The final compensation will be determined during the selection process and will take into account various factors, including relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
