Staff Accountant (Property Management)

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Department. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with property management accounting experience and Yardi Voyager expertise who is looking to contribute to a dynamic and growing organization. Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Company's real estate portfolio and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting transactions. This position performs general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, lender reporting, regulatory filings, and month-end and year-end closing activities. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller/CFO and works closely with Property Management and other departments. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments. Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple operating and trust accounts. Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies. Review and post tenant billings, rent adjustments, and other charges. Ensure leasing and accounting information entered into Yardi is accurate and complete. Assist with tenant accounts receivable reconciliations and related accounting support. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules. Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses comparing actual results to budgets and prior periods. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Prepare year-end financial schedules and supporting documentation for the Company's external CPA. Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Prepare and file Forms 1099 and assist with business licenses, property tax reporting, regulatory filings, unit registrations, and other compliance requirements. Prepare financial reports required by lenders and monitor compliance with loan reporting requirements. Participate in financial due diligence related to property acquisitions, refinancing, and other special projects. Collaborate with Property Management, Accounts Payable, Leasing, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting. Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and improve efficiency. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Controller/CFO. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required. Property management or real estate accounting experience required. Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager is required. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
