Description Adult Library Services Ambassador Part-Time, 16 hours per week work schedule— Mondays 5:00pm-9:00pm, Tuesdays 12:00pm-5:00pm, Thursdays 5:00pm-9:00pm and one Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm weekend per month Do you believe Libraries are about more than just books? This position involves extensive interaction with the public, both in person and by phone. Whether you're recommending a great read, troubleshooting a question, or introducing someone to a new resource, you'll play a key role in creating positive library experiences and helping patrons find more than they expected. Note: This role requires a flexible schedule of evenings and weekends. The pay rate for this position is $20.83 per hour. The Adult Library Services Ambassador serves as a welcoming first point of contact at the adult service desks, providing essential reference, readers' advisory, and technology assistance. This role is dedicated to elevating the patron’s experience by actively promoting library services, resources, and programming, ensuring that every community member has a meaningful and successful visit. Education/Experience/Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or LTA Certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience Familiarity with literature desired Available to work evenings and weekends Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative, courteous working relationships with a multicultural/multigenerational staff and patron population Knowledge of products, services, and current trends and issues in library practices Knowledge of and interest in media, fiction, and nonfiction materials for adults Successfully handles multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Can listen, analyze, problem solve, and exercise good judgment when handling both routine and non-routine issues Works independently and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines Adaptable to changes in existing practices, library routines, and workflows Can operate a personal computer; has knowledge of ILS software, email, Windows, Excel, and basic word processing functions Ability to learn, assist others, and perform basic troubleshooting on a variety of library technologies Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and stoop on an occasional basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and ability to reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis.
