Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Buyer. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for order placement and monitoring to ensure delivery of products and services to end users. The position will provide customer service support to departments both on and off campus, handle the entire ordering process from approved requisition to matched invoice, work with suppliers for order follow‑up and product research, and be involved in projects to improve procurement operations and supply chain processes. Job Responsibilities Ensure uninterrupted supply of critical materials and services across all locations and locate alternate sources when contracted suppliers cannot meet demands. Cooperate with internal and external customers to ensure efficient operations. Initiate follow‑up on orders to clarify, change or resolve discrepancies and ensure end users receive product. Conduct business in a timely, professional, and ethical manner at all times. Recognize the value and impact of core procurement technologies; work with the Departments Application Delivery and Automation Team to automate processes and maximize functionality. Work closely with Strategic Sourcing and Data team members to identify opportunities for items needed by end users, handle supplier changes, maintain clear records of buying decisions, report pricing and contract inconsistencies, and act as an integral part of the service contract process. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of purchasing experience, or significant purchasing experience in a highly relevant role in the absence of a degree. Strong writing and oral communication skills. Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and high level of accountability. Preferred Qualifications Excellent customer service skills and ability to follow up and serve as a resource to customers. Experience with purchasing systems and supply chain management technologies. Ability to analyze, suggest, and improve processes to enhance overall group efficiency and productivity. Salary Transparency NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state law on salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for this role is $66,299.99 – $72,345.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
