ACCOUNTING CLERK

$20.00 to $25.00 per hour

Reese Law Group is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support its Accounting department. This position will perform essential accounting and administrative tasks and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial records. This role assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, reconciliations, administrative duties and other financial duties to support our clients’ business needs. The ideal candidate has accounts payable previous experience.

An effective Accounting Clerk has a good memory for their duties and a detail-oriented mindset. They possess strong typing skills as well as financial literacy and math abilities so that no mistakes are made when entering data into computers or accounting software.

Essential Job Functions

· Update consumer files when payments are received.

· Analyze files, review for accuracy and discrepancies.

· Daily posting of check and electronic payments.

· Generate timely and accurate financial reports.

· Process invoices for cost disbursements via check, ACH, or credit card.

· Create invoices and processes client receivables, following up on unpaid balances.

· Make daily bank deposits into proper client trust accounts.

· Assist with monthly bank reconciliations.

· Report to work in a regular and timely manner.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements

· Experience level: 6 months to 1 year of experience in an Accounting/Finance position, preferred; experience within a law firm environment preferred.

· Education level: High school diploma; Associate degree or current enrollment in a program for Accounting, Finance, or Business, preferred.

· Ability to utilize QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

· Ability to utilize MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other computer software programs in an efficient manner, and to

search for help in the use of such programs independently via the internet.

· Knowledgeable about client trust accounts and the legal standards that must be adhered to for such accounts in the state of California.

· Ability to manage a high-volume workload, while maintaining good critical thinking skills.

· Ability to utilize a calculator and perform basis arithmetic functions, including but not limited to: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages.

· Ability to take initiative in learning new concepts, seek additional information, and ask questions of co-workers when uncertain.

· Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks in a manner that enables timely completion.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

· Must be able to work in a seated or standing position, for periods up to and exceeding 8.0 hours per day.

· Extensive use of a mouse and keyboard, and calculator.

· Extended viewing of a computer screen.

· Possible use of a telephone.

Scheduling Requirements

· Must be able to work a normal M-F schedule.

· This position is domiciled at the offices of Reese Law Group, in Carlsbad, CA.
