Part-Time Community Health Specialist (Women's Health)

Part‑Time Community Health Specialist (Women’s Health) Tuskegee University seeks a highly qualified Community Health Specialist in Women’s Health to provide statewide leadership in women’s health programming through Cooperative Extension and community‑based initiatives. The Specialist will provide direct technical assistance to County Agents, Coordinators, and Associated Faculty across more than 20 counties and collaborate with faculty, resource specialists, and interns to plan, implement, evaluate, and report Community Health activities, with a primary emphasis on women’s health. Responsibilities Provide leadership and technical expertise in women’s health practices and education across multiple counties and regions. Support County Agents, Coordinators, Associated Faculty, and interns in the planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of women’s health programming. Serve as an integrator of information and services to ensure consistent and effective delivery of women’s health initiatives statewide. Collaborate with faculty, extension staff, resource specialists, and students to design and implement Community Health programs aligned with USDA priorities. Initiate and design participatory projects in collaboration with faculty and staff, ensuring appropriate data collection, analysis, dissemination, and publication of program outcomes. Develop and deliver educational programs individually and as part of interdisciplinary teams across Tuskegee University. Work with Extension leadership to support professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, and interns. Participate in and, when appropriate, lead proposal development for joint Extension, Education, and Research initiatives related to women’s health. Prepare timely and accurate reports, documentation, and impact narratives in accordance with USDA and institutional requirements. Serve as a liaison between the Carver Integrative Sustainability Center/Cooperative Extension and the School of Nursing and Allied Health to foster collaborative projects addressing immediate and emerging community health needs. Represent women’s health programming at local, state, and national meetings and conferences as approved. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Health. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or a closely related field. Registered Nurse (RN) preferred. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience working in healthcare or community health settings. Preferred Qualifications and Skills Familiarity with Tuskegee University’s land‑grant mission and Cooperative Extension model. Experience with participatory research, community‑based health initiatives, or Extension programming. Experience in grant writing, program development, and program evaluation. Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for outreach, education, and reporting. Bilingual or multilingual abilities, particularly those relevant to local or underserved populations. Skills and Attributes Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to teach, train, and facilitate educational programs for diverse audiences. Knowledge of women’s health principles, community and public health practices, and evidence‑based education strategies. Knowledge of USDA outputs, outcomes, reporting requirements, and compliance expectations. Skill in coordinating and supporting multi‑county health programs. Skill in facilitating professional development, training, and educational outreach. Ability to integrate campus‑based expertise with community‑based Extension programming. Ability to collect, analyze, and report program data and outcomes. Ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across academic, Extension, and community settings.
