Maintenance Technician

This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a well-rounded Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical skills and solid electrical experience to keep a manufacturing plant and its machinery operating safely and efficiently. You will work as part of a collaborative maintenance team, performing a balance of proactive preventive maintenance and reactive troubleshooting to minimize downtime and support continuous production.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance (PMs) on manufacturing and production equipment and accurately update all completed work in the computerized maintenance system
• Respond immediately to equipment and line breakdowns, prioritizing reactive maintenance to restore production as quickly and safely as possible
• Work closely with two other Maintenance Technicians on shift to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring the plant and machinery remain operational
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, drive shafts, sprockets, cams, chains, and related mechanical components
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plumbing and piping systems, including quick tube disconnects for plumbing and pumps, and support welding and basic plumbing tasks as needed
• Conduct electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment, including wires, relays, sensors, and systems operating up to 480V
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to identify issues and guide repairs
• Troubleshoot relay and PLC-controlled systems by tracking and tracing electrical issues, monitoring inputs and outputs, and viewing PLC programs (without editing or programming changes)
• Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to identify faults and verify that repairs restore proper function and safety

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, including maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing manufacturing or production equipment
• Hands-on experience working with pumps, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
• Experience with conveyors, including inspection, adjustment, and repair to keep material handling systems operating reliably
• Proven experience performing preventive maintenance (PMs) on industrial equipment and documenting completed work
• Experience with quick tube disconnects for plumbing and pump systems, as well as basic plumbing and piping maintenance
• Mechanical proficiency with gearboxes, gears, motors, welding, plumbing/piping, drive shafts, sprockets, cams, chains, and lubrication tasks such as oiling and greasing

This is a permanent position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
