Position Title:  Program Support and Facilitator

Supervised by:  Program Manager and Director of Program

 
Supervises:  Program participants- girls ages 5-18 years old

Job Classification: Non-Exempt Full-Time Employee, scheduled 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position:
The Program Support and Facilitator works directly with the Program Manager and Director of Program to provide support and assistance during center-based programming by creating a safe environment in which Girls Inc. of Santa Fe’s programs can be implemented, as well as ensuring all programs are intentional and beneficial to all girls/young people and their families. The Program Support and Facilitator works directly with the Program Manager and Director of Program to provide Girls Inc. programming to girls/youth at various locations, including our Hillside Center and in Schools. The Program Support and Facilitator is expected to follow all guidelines, policies, and protocols established by Girls Inc., take direction from the Program Manager and Director of Program, and adhere to an approved schedule.  

Responsibilities:

Coordination at Hillside Center and Program Operations 
●    Creates and maintains a safe, nurturing, pro girl environment for girls/youth and staff.
●    Implement programs for girls/youth and teens at various schools in the community.
●    Build and maintain positive relationships with school partners.
●    Recruit new participants to the program.
●    Follow directions of the Program Manager and Director of Program and adhere to the approved schedule.  
●    Inform the Program Manager/Director of Program immediately of all programming needs, safety, and employee concerns.
●    Assist in acquiring any necessary materials and food for the programs
●    Be a resource to parents and staff including assisting parents with registration and questions; substituting for staff as needed; assisting staff with behavior/discipline issues.
●    Assist Program Manager and Director of Program with any necessary administrative duties including reports, evaluations, data entry,  and scheduling.
●    Keep track of attendance by checking messages and sign in sheets and calling parents/guardians to confirm absences if they not reported.
●    Supervises girls/youth during program activities and field trips.
●    Explores changing interests and developmental needs of girls/youth to keep up to date with changing patterns. Utilizes resources such as girls/youth, appropriate staff and program volunteers and Girls Incorporated program initiatives to develop a coordinated program which will meet the needs of girls/youth. Reviews programs as necessary to ensure they are relevant.
●    Creates and maintains positive relationships with parents, girls/youth, school staff and Girls Inc. administration through effective communication.
●    Implements and is an advocate for all policies and procedures of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe.
●    Participates in set-up and clean-up of Hillside Center.
●    Assists children to resolve conflicts in accordance with Girls Inc. of Santa Fe Conflict Resolution Policies.
●    Keeps the Program Manager informed of problems, concerns, needs, trends and unusual situations.
●    Supports and collaborates with program facilitators
●    Participates in staff meetings and conferences to share ideas and concerns and works collaboratively with other staff to meet organizational goals and achieve staff objectives.
●    Participates in periodic assessment of personal performance, develops personal goals and objectives. Takes advantage of training and other developmental/professional growth opportunities. Attends and participates in Girls Incorporated national functions as agreed upon with the Program Leadership.

Decision-Authority:
●    Has authority to purchase supplies within budgetary constraints, with Program Manager or Director of Program’s approval.
●    Has authority to make program decisions in the event of Program Manager or Director of Program absence, with communication with Program Manager or Director of Program
●    Authority to register participants in Girls. Inc. programs on a first come/first serve basis and make arrangements with families to assure no girl/youth is turned away due to lack of ability to pay.
●    Authority to receive payments from families.

Qualifications:
●    Spanish language fluency highly preferred
●    Bachelor's Degree, with courses in education, recreation, psychology, or sociology preferred. Special consideration may be given for equivalent experience and personal qualifications in lieu of a degree. 
●    Work experience in youth work or related field, which includes some experience in supervision, administration, curriculum and course design, and community relations. 
●    Skill in working with a diverse group of people; ability to facilitate cooperative work.
●    Demonstrates knowledge in a wide range of program topics 
●    Ability to communicate with groups and individuals to foster their involvement and participation in program planning, problem solving, and decision making.
●    Willing to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
