Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Schedule includes full-time or PRN availability. Block scheduling which rotates, ensuring two consecutive days off and every other weekend. Administer medication and perform treatments within the scope of license. Medications may be in various forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may include sterile wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage, and tracheostomy care. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure adequate supplies and medications are available. Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, and functional needs. Participate in shift report exchanges. Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff to provide appropriate care. Complete initial admission nursing assessments for new residents. Assist in the development of minimum data set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, treatment, and resident progress. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Knowledge of gerontological and geriatric nursing theory and practice is essential. Understanding of the effects of the aging process is required. Familiarity with team nursing practices and treatment plan implementation is important. Knowledge of pharmacology and medicines is necessary. Understanding federal and state laws governing nursing practices is critical. Skills in observing and reporting resident behavior and progress are essential. Ability to apply and interpret relevant nursing regulations is required. Skills in developing and implementing patient care plans within team nursing concepts are important. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration. Candidates must abide by nursing regulations and respond to medical emergencies. Ability to evaluate and analyze client health problems and make independent decisions is required. Professionalism in responding to medical inquiries is essential. Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships is critical.
