Program Assistant - Malta Branch

Description $16.00/hour POSITION SUMMARY: The Saratoga Regional YMCA is hiring for a Program Assistant and we are excited to have you join our team! This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides support, instruction and motivation for youth sports participants. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. JOB PERKS: Fun, interactive atmosphere Competitive pay Free YMCA membership! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leads and/or assists with the instruction and supervision of all practices. Helps to develop participants’ skill and promote their involvement as part of a class. Ensures the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintains a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment. Conveys information on youth programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs. Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants, as well as proactively communicating areas of concern. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers. Requirements Minimum age of 15 years old; Must be able to furnish working papers. 1+ year of previous sports team participation experience. Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications preferred.
