Zurich is currently looking for a RCIS Crop Claims Specialist or Claims Crop Field Adjuster I to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS is one of the leading crop insurance providers in the U.S., offering protection in all 50 states through a network of about 3,600 licensed agents. This role protects farmers and ranchers by evaluating crop claims and ensuring compliance with federal and private insurance programs. Location We are recruiting talent in South Dakota, specifically within Beadle, Jerauld, Sanborn, Brule, Aurora, Davison, Buffalo, and Hand Counties. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of these locations. Responsibilities Exercise judgment to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts, following applicable procedures. Verify policy and coverage by analyzing applicable terms to decide if a claim is insured. Participate in Risk Management Agency reviews and referrals to maintain operations integrity and quality assurance. Handle claims information confidentially to protect Zurich’s reputation. Maintain professional knowledge through education, industry trends, networking, and professional societies. Qualifications – Crop Claims Specialist I High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ months of experience in agriculture. Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) obtained within 180 days of hire. Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel within the territory. Physical capabilities: walk in fields up to 3 miles; climb storage bins up to 25 ft; lift 25–50 lbs; work outdoors in varying weather. Qualifications – Crop Claims Specialist II High School Diploma or Equivalent with 4+ years of experience in agriculture or the crop insurance industry. Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) Certification obtained within 180 days of hire. Reliable personal transportation; ability to travel within assigned territory and outside for CAT team support, remote assistance for CROP Claims Care Center calls, or CCP Claims. Physical capabilities: walk in fields up to 3 miles; climb storage bins up to 25 ft; lift 25–50 lbs; work outdoors in varying weather. Preferred Qualifications (both levels) Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong organization, multi‑tasking, and prioritization skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. Compensation & Benefits Salary ranges from $44,300 to $77,000, depending on role and experience. Hourly rates for Associates range from $21.30 to $29.33, with short‑term incentive bonuses ranging from 5% to 10%.
