Loan Repayment Programs Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps – up to $105,000 loan repayment for three years of service. National Health Service Corps (NHSC) – up to $75,000 loan repayment for two years of service; may pay off student loans with continued service if at an NHSC approved site. Differential Pay 5% differential pay for ABPN Board Certification. Position Overview The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is recruiting for a Field-Based Behavioral Health Physician II. This role assumes medical responsibility for adult and/or child/adolescent patients in field-based settings (including encampments). Incumbents may also work in specialty areas such as outpatient clinics, community education, diversion, quality improvement, or informatics. Essential duties include conducting comprehensive health assessments/evaluations, providing Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), delivering medical and/or behavioral health clearances, establishing multi-axial diagnoses per DSM, developing individualized addiction medicine treatment plans, providing clinical supervision of residents and allied health professionals, administering medication and other psychiatric treatments, and performing related tasks as required. Department Overview DBH provides mental health and substance use disorder services to county residents, focusing on children/youth, adults with serious mental illness, and substance use disorders. Required Qualifications Education : Graduation from an accredited school of medicine. Residency : Completion of an ACGME-approved residency. Certificate of completion must be submitted. Note: Applications accepted from candidates within 12 months of residency completion. Provide letter of verification of anticipated completion date. License : Valid Physician’s and Surgeon’s certificate issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. Indicate number and expiration date on supplemental questionnaire. Certification : Valid DEA certificate with copy submitted. Experience : Six months full-time teaching of residents/medical students (residency hours count). OR six months full-time behavioral health specialty clinic/area experience (outpatient forensics, correctional mental health, Clozaril, diversion programs, quality improvement, informatics). Must be within a behavioral health or health care organization. Fellowship : ACGME-approved fellowship in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry is highly desirable. Certificate of completion should be submitted. Ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, multidisciplinary collaboration, strong relationships with community providers, experience with seriously mentally ill, eating disorders, underserved populations, children and adolescents. Fluency in ASL, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese is strongly encouraged. Additional compensation may be associated; testing of bilingual skills may be required.
