Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic EMR proficiency Recent trauma level I/II hospital experience Experience with a variety of critical ICU drips Description: This position is for an ICU Nurse. Start dates are not flexible. Candidates must adhere to a 100-mile radius rule. 48-hour guarantees are unavailable. No blocked scheduling requests are accepted. No more than 5 days of requested time off are allowed. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2 in MedSurg ICU. If there are no vents or drips, the ratio is 1:3. Required number of beds is 42. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions such as open heart surgery, balloon procedures, and the administration of tPA and TPE. Core staff will handle specialties, while smaller head bleeds and post tPA administration patients will be transferred to another facility if interventions are needed. Experience with ventilators, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac issues, CHF, and respiratory conditions is necessary. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable and set-rate drips include vasopressors like Epi, levophed, and phenylephrine, inotropes such as dopamine and dobutamine, antiarrhythmics like amiodarone and cardizem, and various sedatives, analgesics, and anticoagulants. Charge nurses are not assigned to each shift. Patient care assistants are available on the unit to assist with tasks. Ratios with PCAs are typically 1:10. Clientists and/or intensivists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 for vent settings and intubation. Centralized tele-monitoring is conducted from each nurse’s station, with monitors available in patient rooms. Self-scheduling allows for 4 requested days off within a 4-week period. Weekend shift requirements include 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period. Two major holidays are required, with the only requirement for Christmas being the day itself, not the eve. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to other units is expected, with a reduced patient load. Scrub color is navy blue. The cancellation policy allows for cancellations equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment duration. The charting system used is EPIC.
