Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic EMR proficiency required Trauma level I/II hospital experience required Well-rounded experience with a variety of critical ICU drips Experience with ventilators, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac, CHF, and respiratory cases Description: This position is for an ICU Registered Nurse. Start dates are not flexible. There is a 100-mile radius rule. Nursing ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2. If there are no vents or drips, the ratio may go to 1:3. The unit has 42 beds. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions such as open heart surgeries, balloons, impella, tPA, and TPE. Core staff will manage specific specialties. Small head bleeds may be kept in-house; if intervention is needed, patients will be flown out. There is a charge nurse on each shift, but the role is charge-free. Respiratory therapy is present 24/7. They manage ventilator settings, intubations, and draw ABGs. The team includes intensives and hospitalists in-house 24/7. Nursing assistants and patient care technicians are available on the unit. They can assist with EKG, blood sugar checks, procedures, I/O, ADLs, and lab draws. There is centralized telemetry monitoring in each nurses' station, and monitors are also available in patient rooms. Self-scheduling is encouraged with four requested days off in a four-week period. There is a requirement for four weekend shifts in a four-week period and two major holidays. Floating to other units is required, and the patient load will be adjusted accordingly. Navy blue scrubs are required. Cancellation policy allows for hours equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment to be canceled. Charting is done through an electronic medical record system. No BSN requirement for this position.
