Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Hospital Medicine Liberty/Base (72 Bi-weekly Hours)

Overview Division: Hospital Medicine. Role: Inpatient, 24/7 rotating. Experienced APP preferred; new graduate with adequate experience may be considered. Schedule Shift length: 8–10 hours, potential 12‑hour shifts in the future. Rotating shifts. Holidays: Yes. Weekends: Yes. Call: No. Job Responsibilities • Perform history and physical examinations on patients presenting for care in the area of expertise.

• Assess and diagnose illnesses, including chronic and acute conditions.
• Formulate, document and monitor a treatment plan; order and monitor therapeutic interventions, diets, laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests as necessary.
• Provide clinical consultation and order interdisciplinary consults.
• Practice professionally, including prescription of medications in accordance with Federal and State Law, rules, and CCHMC policy.
• Attain and maintain competency in subspecialty practice, skills and procedures in accordance with Joint Commission standards for FPS and OPS evaluation.
• Develop measurable outcomes and individualized comprehensive care plans; involve patient/family/caregiver; consider risks/benefits, costs, clinical effectiveness and evidence.
• Maintain documentation and update outcomes, goals and plan of care.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, research, lifelong learning and professional development; serve as preceptor, mentor, or role model.
• Integrate ethical considerations and research findings into practice; provide leadership in committees, professional organizations, writing, publishing, presenting.
• Advocate for pediatric patients and families; influence APP practice and policy.
• Maintain competency in procedures, promote self‑management, family‑centered care; employ diverse strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
• Document and communicate with healthcare team members; delegate monitoring, assessment and interventions appropriately.
• Make referrals, discuss recommendations with patient/family/caregiver; order and perform appropriate treatments and procedures based on current knowledge.
• Use systematic ongoing evaluation of assessment data and outcomes to revise diagnoses, outcomes, and plan of care; evaluate effectiveness of interventions and determine impact on patient, organization and system; recommend process or structural changes such as policy or procedure updates.

Qualifications • Master’s degree in a related field; Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.

• Licensure, certification, or training required; may include clinical license, certification, multi‑state licensure, Ohio licensure depending on subspecialty.
• Prior APP experience in subspecialty preferred. Licensure and certification in accordance with CCHMC delineation of privileges; multi‑state licensure may be required based on subspecialty.
• Ability to practice within scope of collaborating or supervising MD.
