Perioperative Clerk

Job Title

This position reflects the mission, vision and values of Westchester Medical Center Health Network and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines. The purpose of this position is to provide collaboration with physician, nurses and other healthcare workers within our department. The employee is responsible for answering phones, ordering supplies and transcribing orders given by physicians.

Responsibilities

• Communicates clearly and effectively with nurses, administration, and physicians

• Maintains patients files

• Prepares patient treatment charts

• Updates patient information

• Schedules appointments

• Answers telephones, orders supplies and enters physician orders

• Handles administrative duties and provides back-up support with additional functions as required

• Must develop and foster excellent client and staff relations

• Performs other functions as required and trained to perform

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience:

• 1 year of administrative and/or customer service experience, required
• Previous healthcare administrative experience, preferred

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required

Licenses / Certifications: N/A

• Working knowledge of hospital organization and procedures
• Excellent listening and communication skills

• Full command, verbal and written, of the English language. Multilingual a plus
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with a strong aptitude of Excel
• Understands customer service as it relates to position and delivery of care
