CVOR Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services CVOR Technician provides specialized technical support in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures. This role involves preparing and assisting in complex surgeries including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, and minimally invasive valve procedures. The technician must be adaptable, able to float to general OR cases, and support a high-volume surgical environment. Strong technical skills, quick learning ability, and teamwork are essential. The position requires a commitment to call coverage and weekend shifts. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment for cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries.
• Serve as the singular scrub technician for cardiothoracic cases, ensuring sterile technique and efficient workflow.
• Assist in a variety of surgical specialties including general, cardiovascular/thoracic, laparoscopic, and others as needed.
• Support surgical procedures such as CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, VATS, mediastinoscopy, and RATS.
• Perform flexible endoscope reprocessing, preferably including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Provide standby support for carotid cutdowns and laser lead procedures.
• Float to general OR cases as required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
• Participate in call shifts and weekend coverage as scheduled.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a surgical technician, preferably in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery.
• Current BLS certification.
• Valid Washington state license.
• Ability to scrub singularly for cardiothoracic cases.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile technique.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume surgical environment.
• Willingness to work a 4x10 day shift schedule.
• Commitment to at least 10 call shifts per month.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• NBSTSA certification.
• Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing, including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Experience in additional surgical specialties such as OB/GYN, plastic surgery, ENT, urology, robotic surgery, orthopedic, neuro/crani, and transplant.
• Experience with robotic-assisted surgical technologies.

Special Considerations:

• Must agree to at least 10 call shifts per month, with call hours between 17:00 and 06:30.
• Required to work 1-2 weekends per month.
• Flexible to float between cardiothoracic and general OR cases.
• Scrub color restrictions: no reddish orange permitted.
• Facility uses EPIC for charting.
• Local candidates only; pending licenses accepted.
• RTO restrictions must be disclosed at time of submission.

Scheduling:

• Regular schedule is four 10-hour day shifts, 06:30 to 17:00.
• Call shifts required, which can occur any time between 17:00 and 06:30.
• Weekend shifts required 1-2 times per month.
