Agricultural and Standards Program Aide

Job Summary The Agricultural and Standards Program Aide provides assistance and support services related to the enforcement of agricultural or weights and measures laws and agricultural pest control. Knowledge Basic record keeping techniques Principles and practices of customer service Abilities Learn basic insects and plants related to the area of assignment Read maps and plot trap locations on maps Follow verbal and written directions Make simple explanations of policy, procedure, and law to the general public Keep records and prepare reports Read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance Qualifications There are no mandatory education or experience requirements. Minimum qualifications include the knowledge and abilities listed above and meeting general qualifications such as having a valid California Driver License, Class C or higher. Physical Abilities Perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing for long periods of time, walking long distances, stooping, stretching, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds Differentiate between colors at a level necessary to identify various insects and weeds Working Conditions Work in all types of weather conditions Travel in an assigned area Work weekends, holidays, and non-routine hours Background and Criminal History The County may access criminal history information on candidates. Candidates with a felony or misdemeanor conviction that impacts their ability to perform the job duties may be disqualified. Background checks, including fingerprinting, may be required.
