Lunch/Recess Monitor

Lunch MonitorHigh school diploma or equivalent is recommended. Ability to communicate and deal with students, staff and the public in a congenial and positive manner. Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities. Exhibit acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health and be physically able to perform necessary job responsibilities. Pleasant and dignified manner, neat in appearance and ability to adjust to change. Contract work days as per Board Agreement. Responsible to Counselor and Building Principal. General responsibilities include assisting in establishing and maintaining a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria or lunch room area conducive to providing students a meal time to unwind and to refresh for the tasks of the afternoon. Specific duties include organizing students into orderly lines for purchasing food, helping students develop and observe proper dining habits, assisting younger students with use of utensils when needed, organizing students for orderly disposal of food wastes, trays and utensils, organizing groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom, circulating among the tables during the meal period to help children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise, informing the Counselor at once of any serious infraction of disciplinary rules by students, calling immediately for the Counselor in the event of any argument involving more than two students; any incident involving physical confrontation and any incident that appears to be of more than momentary disruption. Performs other duties as assigned by the Counselor and Building Principal.
