Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Smyrna, TN

Unit Information:

• Number of Beds: 9 Labor & Delivery, 3 swing rooms, 2 Operating Rooms, 3-bed OB Emergency Department
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Staffing: Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, dedicated CRNA & Midwife in-house 24/7, OBGYN on call
• Documentation System: CPN and Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts per month
• Floating Policy: May float to mother/baby or outside department to assist
• Patient Experience Requirements: Maintain above 75% satisfaction

Required Skills and Certifications:

• Must Have: Strong commitment to providing high-quality care to laboring patients and ability to support patient choices promoting vaginal birth.
• Advanced Skills: Skills in spinning babies and STABLE preferred.
• Procedures Performed: Circulating in Operating Room, Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC), Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE), Magnesium Sulfate administration, postpartum hemorrhage management via JADA system, nitrous oxide use.
• Required Certifications: RN, ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring.

Dress Code:

Uniform: Hot pink and black. Preferably hot pink on top and black on the bottom.

HCA Unit of Distinction 2021, TIPQC Pilot hospital for NTSV and Team Birth.

Additional Information:

This unit employs a laborist team model with midwives and dedicated personnel available 24/7. We aim to personalize each birth experience according to our patients' desires and needs. The postpartum unit utilizes couplet care to ensure that newborns remain at the bedside, promoting breastfeeding with donor milk availability when needed. Additionally, we have an 8-bed Level 2 NICU with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner dedicated to the unit around the clock, available for high-risk deliveries as required.
