Surgical Pathologist (GI)

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry and Golisano Children's Hospital is seeking a Surgical Pathologist (Surgical Pathology or GI) in Rochester, NY. The chosen provider will deliver diagnostic expertise, conduct microscopic examinations, provide intraoperative consultations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams. This academic role also involves participating in teaching, research, and quality assurance initiatives within a subspecialized division. Practice Info Anatomic Pathology Division provides a wide range of services, accessioning over 100,000 cases per year and approximately 220 autopsies More than 35 anatomic pathologists participate in a fully subspecialized sign-out model There are 20 residents in the ACGME-accredited residency and 10 subspecialties fellows Infrastructure exists to create the only ACGME pediatric pathology fellowship in New York state The department houses URMC's largest PhD training program Located at Strong Memorial Hospital in the Department of Pathology & Lab Med Responsibilities Provide diagnostic expertise and clinical support in the evaluation of surgical specimens Perform microscopic examination and diagnosis of surgical pathology specimens Provide intraoperative consultations (frozen sections) as needed Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to guide patient management Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the department Engage in teaching activities for medical students, residents and fellows Maintain compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations Contribute to academic activities, including teaching and research Compensation $33,280 - $500,000 Additional incentive compensation in excess of base salary in alignment with UR Medical Faculty Group Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable Benefits Generous 403b contributions Deferred compensation (457(b)) plan Tuition benefit for employees and their children Qualifications Must have completed medical school having an MD, MD-PhD, or equivalent Board certification in Anatomic Pathology (or combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology) Fellowship training in surgical pathology or subspecialty area (preferred) Open to visa sponsorship
