Position Overview

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preparation of assigned equipment. The position will also maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and rebuilding of vehicle components and systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using visual, auditory, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Repair and maintain engines, electrical systems, HVAC, fuel, emissions, powertrain, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
• Perform preventive and special maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Reassemble, adjust, and test repaired units to ensure proper operation.
• Use technical manuals and publications to maintain vehicles according to prescribed schedules.
• Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records and logs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain tools and equipment and ensure proper housekeeping and shop safety.
• Follow all safety procedures, SOPs, and hazardous material/waste handling requirements.
• Help minimize equipment downtime by responding quickly to maintenance and repair needs.
• Perform roadside service and repairs at remote field locations when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of diesel troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle systems and components.
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, specifications, and SOPs.
• Knowledge of safe maintenance practices and workplace hazards.
• Basic welding skills.
• Ability to provide guidance and direction regarding safe equipment repairs.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems; TMT experience is a plus.
• Experience with diagnostic tools/software such as PACCAR, Cummins INSITE, or Genisys .
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be local to Shreveport, LA, or surrounding areas .
• Preferred: Graduate of a two-year accredited diesel technical school with at least 1 year of mechanic experience, or 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience .
• Experience with preventive maintenance required.
• Certifications in brakes, PM, electrical, HVAC, fuel, and emissions systems preferred.
• CDL with Hazmat endorsement preferred, or ability to obtain it within 90 days.
• Fuel hauling industry experience is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including employment and motor vehicle history.

Physical & Working Environment

• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting.
• Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, odors, loud noise, and varying weather conditions.
• Must have the necessary mechanic tools.
• Willingness to work weekends and respond to roadside service calls.
• May need to travel to remote field sites and occasionally travel overnight.
• Must use appropriate safety equipment, including steel-toe boots and safety glasses.

Additional Information

This is a non-exempt, full-time direct-hire position . Health, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance are available after 90 days. Paid time off and holidays are also available after 90 days.
