Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,060 per week in Newburgh, IN

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to a neurology and neuro-surgical patient population including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms, as well as general medical and psychiatric patients
Perform

NIHSS assessments

and dysphagia screenings; conduct strong neurological assessments with critical thinking
Initiate and titrate heparin drips; manage stable infusions (e.g., Protonix, Lasix); administer blood and blood products
Perform venipuncture, blood cultures, straight catheterization, Foley insertion, NG tube placement, and indwelling drain management; maintain strict intake and output documentation
Interpret basic telemetry and document clinical findings using Epic (checkoff class required upon start)
Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum 2-hour notice; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
Active, current

compact RN license

required
AHA BLS certification

required - must be attached upon submittal
NIHSS certification

required - must be attached upon submittal
Minimum two years of strong, recent neurology nursing experience
At least one prior travel nursing assignment
Trauma Level II experience required
Recent Epic charting experience required
Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with neuro-surgical patient populations including post-op craniotomies and cerebral angiograms
Strong adaptability, resilience, and ability to manage change in a dynamic unit environment
Collaborative, team-oriented personality; comfortable working alongside a well-established staff nursing team
