Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP-PA) Contract Position

Job Description

We are seeking a New York State licensed Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP-PA) to cover a Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at our main hospital location. This role involves performing gross examinations, handling a variety of specimens, and collaborating with a dedicated staff of pathologists and histotechs.

Responsibilities

• Cut and stain frozen sections and prepare tissues for histological processing.
• Perform gross examination and dissection of large and complex specimens, including breast and renal cores.
• Triage fresh tissue for lymphoma work-ups and identify glomeruli.
• Review patient clinical information, including scans, X-rays, and lab results.
• Collaborate with a team of 4 pathologists and 6 histotechs to ensure high-quality laboratory services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State Pathologists' Assistant License.
• ASCP - PA certification.
• 1+ year of experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in Epic charting system.
• Experience handling breast resections, uterus, lung, and colon resections.
