Job Description Job Summary: HGSE is a diverse community of learners, teachers, and employees who are passionate about changing the world through education and striving for maximum impact in the field of education. The Professional Learning Manager directs thedevelopment,implementation,andfacilitationofprofessionaldevelopmentofferings that help educators and other audiences strengthen their capacity to teach civics content and skills. The work will be performed as part of the Civic Learning Institute (CLI), an initiative at the Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP) that develops and deliverscivics-focusedprofessionallearningforeducatorsatalllevels(earlychildhood, K-12, and higher education) and other audiences. Using content knowledge, teaching skillsandexperience, knowledge of and experience using the Educating for American Democracy (EAD) framework,andprofessionaldevelopmentdesignandfacilitationexperience, the role will: 1) lead the focused development of professional development offerings for K-12 educators and other targeted audiences, 2) adapt existing offerings to make them effective and relevant for all levels, 3) train, guide, and support teachers who facilitate professionaldevelopmentofferingsfortheCLI,4)conceptualizenewlearningofferings, and 5) lead network outreach and development for targeted audiences across the country. Job-Specific Responsibilities: Conceptualizethecontent,format,andpedagogyofprofessionaldevelopment offeringstoachievedesiredlearningoutcomesforthetargetaudiences.(20%) Adaptexistinglearningdesignsandsupportingmaterialsfornewaudiencesand contexts. (20%) Guidethetechdevelopmentteamonthecontentandpedagogicalintentionsof the learning design as they build and revise online offerings. (10%) Evaluatetheeffectivenessofprofessionallearningofferings;suggestrevisionsto scope, content, pedagogy, and resources based on evaluation. (10%) Connect with and develop networks of educators and other potential audiences to grow engagement with CLI offerings and the EAD framework. (20%) DeliverDKP and EAD-alignedcivicsprofessionallearningforeducatorsinavarietyofcontexts around the country, as requested by schools or organizations. (10%) Provideguidance,feedback,andsupportforteachersworkingwithDKPto design and facilitate professional learning offerings. (10%) Qualifications Basic Qualifications: M.Ed. Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators 5+ or more years for teaching and designing experience Additional Qualifications and Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills FacilitywithMSWordandGoogleSuite Experience teaching with and providing professional learning related to the Educating for American Democracy framework.
