Job Data Job Title: General Merchandise Associate Department: General Merchandise Department Supervisor: General Merchandise Manager Summary Description Set-up and maintain an appealing retail environment and assist customers with their shopping and purchase of merchandise. Key Results Areas Retail Sales of General Merchandise Customer Service Clean & efficient General Merchandise environment Major Duties and Responsibilities 1) Retail Sales of General Merchandise Assist General Merchandise Manager with attaining retail sales objectives in General Merchandise. Follow the C.U.S.T.O.M. Selling Process. Assist with set-up, organization, and staging of special events such as Open houses, HOG activities, fashion shows, etc. Create well-organized presentations that appeal to customers. Continuously maintain showroom product availability by stocking shelves and displays. Maintain updated customer mailing lists. Attend training sessions to stay current with merchandising and inventory control issues. 2) Customer Service Provide excellent customer service to all dealership customers. Greet customers immediately in a courteous and friendly manner. Work with several customers at one time while maintaining individual satisfaction. Handle telephone transactions quickly and courteously. Point out any sales, specials, or new merchandise to customers. Assist customers with selecting merchandise and offer complementary products. Accept cash and credit card payments and keep the cash register accurate. Notify customers when special orders or back‑ordered items are received. Handle customer complaints with empathy and a positive attitude, demonstrating commitment to excellent service. 3) Clean & Efficient General Merchandise Environment Ensure merchandise displays are stocked, clean, and appealing. Keep all non‑retail areas of the department clean, neat, and orderly at all times. Become familiar with all phases of the computer system required for General Merchandise management. Participate in periodic physical inventory of all merchandise (counts, reports, etc.). Assist the receiving department by labeling and preparing products for the showroom floor. 4) Other Duties As Assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Commitments Treat all employees and customers fairly, courteously, and with dignity. Be prompt and available for flexible scheduling. Demonstrate professionalism in providing customer service. Review all P.A.C.E. tapes and attend training sessions to stay current. Accept direction, follow instructions, and work well with others. Requirements Qualifications & Job Requirements Must have the ability to get along with a broad customer base. Schooling or experience in merchandising and retail sales preferred. Experience with Point‑of‑Sale and computerized inventory systems or the ability to learn quickly. Physical Demands Must be able to stand and walk the sales floor for most of the day. Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift 40 lb. of merchandise. Working Conditions Majority of work is conducted indoors; however, some outdoor booth sales occur during open houses or other events. #J-18808-Ljbffr Boston-Harley--davidson
