Emergency Department Registered Nurse

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and provides critical patient assessments. The RN ensures optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. On-call per unit needs; if called in, the candidate must be able to arrive within one hour. Cancellation of shifts may occur based on unit needs, with up to one 12-hour shift being canceled per two-week pay period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
• Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
• Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury.
• Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
• Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
• Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
• Adhere to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
• Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics.
