Medication Technician

Position Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to administer medications to residents and assist with other aspects of their daily care and routine. Qualifications: Successful completion of Med Tech training program Minimum of six months’ experience in long term care, home care, or a related field, preferably as a Med Tech High School Diploma or equivalent Must have or be able to obtain a valid CPR certification Speak, read, and understand the English language Responsibilities: Read and implement care/activities of daily living (ADLs) according to resident service plan within the scope of practice of certification or licensure. Responds to resident needs, pendant calls, and other community alarms in a timely manner. Demonstrates empathy and develops caring rapport with residents. Communicates clearly, professionally, and timely. Communicates change of condition in any resident to nursing in a timely and effective manner. Demonstrates behavior, which maintains and respects resident rights and promotes independence, regardless of race, religion, lifestyle, sexual preference, and disease process. Addresses individual behavioral needs of the resident and demonstrates the ability to identify psychosocial needs. Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills - prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
