Physician - Family Medicine

Contract Physician Position

Qualifications: Contract physicians shall be board certified, eligible, or have partial completion of an accredited residency program. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required of physicians placed by the Contractor. The Contract Provider must have a minimum of 2 years of experience within Family Medicine/General Medicine within the past 36 months, and must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements. Health requirements include no work or health restrictions which interfere with the performance of primary care provider services. The Contract Provider shall provide proof of current immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu) status and a current PPD within the past year.

Clinical Duties: The Contract Provider's actual clinical duties will be in accordance with his/her credentialed privileges within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the WWKMHCC, and will include the following:

• Provide high quality and efficient care to patients; examine and diagnose the health-related conditions of patients of all ages who present for care, seeing an average of 16 patients per day.
• Refer individuals for consultation when appropriate, and prescribe and carry out appropriate therapy as recommended by the specialist.
• Participate in Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and encourage patient engagement.
• Educate individuals in the nature of health-related conditions, recommended therapy, and general promotion of health and prevention of disease.
• Obtain necessary information on patients seen in the OPD, such as medical records, x-ray images and reports, normal and abnormal test results, and documents pertinent to the patient's medical record.
• Establish interpersonal, intra-departmental relationships, and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to patients from Native American communities to enhance optimal patient care.
• Maintain familiarity and comply with Federal, State, Indian Health Service, accreditation standards, CMS regulations, and departmental regulation and requirements.
• Participate in committees as assigned (Medical Staff, Purchase & Referred Care, Quality Assurance, Pain Management, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Outpatient Department, etc.).
• Staff development/education as assigned by the Clinical Director.
• Peer reviews as assigned according to facility by-laws.

Patient Scheduling: Facility personnel will assist with patient scheduling. Patient appointments will be scheduled initially for sixty (60) minutes in length for the first three (3) weeks of orientation. Appointments will then be scheduled for thirty (30) minutes in length except for those appointments requiring additional time as determined by the facility, including but not limited to, physicals, initial pain agreements, newly established patients, etc.

Orientation: All new contract providers will participate in the WWKMHCC facility orientation. The orientation must be completed prior to providing services at the facility, and will be scheduled for the first one (1) to three (3) days of arriving at the facility. Alternate resource enrollment applications with the Business Office must be completed within two (2) days of onboarding.

Work Schedule: Work shifts will typically be eight (8) hours and will be worked between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm Monday through Friday, including holidays; occasionally additional hours may be required, the typical work week will be 40-50 hours per week and the Contract Provider will typically be scheduled to cover the closing work shift of 11:00am to 8:00pm, depending on staffing. Work shifts on the weekends will be four (4) hours each day 1:00pm to 5:00pm. When the Contract Provider is scheduled to work on a holiday or weekend, additional time may be scheduled off during the work week, depending on staffing. Work hours will be scheduled by the Clinical Director or designee to correspond to the needs of the facility and are subject to change.
