Heat Treat Operator (Temper / Draw)
$24 per hourWe are seeking a reliable Heat Treat Operator to join our production team! In this role, you will be responsible for operating equipment to reheat previously quenched metal components, then quenching them in brine, water, oil, or molten lead. - Furnace & Quench Operation: Control furnaces to reheat and quench metal parts according to specifications.
- Instrumentation Monitoring: Accurately read gauges, sight glasses, and control instrumentation to monitor processing conditions.
- Quality & Testing: Conduct quality control tests using Brinell Testers, Rockwell Testers, and metal lab equipment (polishing and metallograph).
- Material Handling: Safely load/unload parts using heavy conveyors.
- Documentation: Fill out production logs and quality report documents accurately.
- Experience: Prior experience in heat treating, metallurgy, or heavy manufacturing is preferred; on-the-job training is provided as needed.
- Physical & Equipment Ability: Must have the physical strength and agility to lift parts, build loads, and operate production equipment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read basic gauges, perform quality testing, and handle material handling machinery (crane/forklift).
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a standard heat-treat industrial environment, which includes exposure to heat, odors, dust, soot, and elevated noise levels. Safety gear and protocols are strictly enforced.
