Electrician Apprentice

Job Overview Under direct supervision, assists in the diagnosis, service, and installation of electrical work in residential customers' homes. Assists with the installs, maintenance, and repairs of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensures that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes. Assists with communicating with residential customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure complete customer satisfaction. Works under the directions of the Licensed Electrician. Location: 5301 Holland Dr, Beltsville, MD 20705 Key Responsibilities Assist the Journeyman in analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with codes. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety. Assist the Journeyman in planning layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand or power tools; connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside partitions, walls, or concealed areas, pulling insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment such as motors. Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications. Use a variety of tools or equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, amp meters, or test lamps. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and properly accounted for. Follow standard procedures and process, ensuring the vehicle is properly stocked, returning defective warranty parts to branch, and ordering or replenishing vehicle stock as needed. Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities. Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 0‑2+ years of experience in electrical repair, maintenance, and installation plus on‑the‑job training. Knowledge of machines and tools used in construction or repair of houses, buildings, and other structures, including design, use, repair, and maintenance. Proficiency in basic mathematics and metric and standard measurements. Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment. Effective communication skills to interact with customers and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns. Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Availability to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed. Physical ability to stand and walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces, including continual climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Vision to see and focus for close, distance, and peripheral vision with normal depth perception and ability to accurately distinguish colors for proper installation. Hand/eye coordination. Annual compensation range: $51,800.00 – $66,000.00 plus incentive opportunities.
