Human Resources Generalist

SLAC Human Resources seeks an experienced and talented Human Resources professional to provide consistent, accurate and professional administration of all employment transactions. This position will often be the first point of contact for many human resources inquiries and serve as a resource to staff on HR/Payroll procedures and practices. This role will support the transition to new HRIS Oracle ERP system and align processes with the university’s new service delivery model. Your specific responsibilities include: The administration of records transactions and liaison with Stanford University Payroll Enter full range of Oracle Cloud data for personnel transactions to include new hires, address changes, terminations, status changes, retroactive reclassifications, layoffs and reorganizations Coordinate and perform data management activities including initiating transactions (e.g. Cell Phone Allowance, Payroll Advances, etc.) and ensuring compliance with Stanford policies Process and submit accurate and timely transactions to payroll (via Service Now) Research and resolve records, payroll and/or other human resources inquiries. Refer more complex issues to Records & Transaction Lead Serve as a resource on HR Records and Payroll issues and effectively communicate human resources policies and explain human resources processes and procedures Provide HR Records and Payroll support, customer service, and issue resolution. Partner effectively with HR Business Partners, Accounting specialists and Stanford University Payroll to resolve issues. Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Process employment verification letters in Microsoft Word. Develop and apply a solid knowledge of University, SLAC, and DOE policies related to records matters and procedures. Records retention and archival of personnel files To be successful in this position you will bring: Associate degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Two year of experience in Human Resources is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strategic and critical thinking skills are a must. Ability to work independently and without close supervision. Ability to learn and apply general human resources policies using problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion. Ability to consistently follow through with projects and assignments and meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong and effective interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Familiarity with human resource management systems, such as Oracle Cloud ERP systems. This is a one-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to a regular continuing position.
