Maintenance TechnicianThis position keeps the box plant running by reducing unplanned downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting production throughput. The role ensures maintenance work is completed safely, on time, and done right the first time, while helping prevent repeat failures and maintaining quality standards across all equipment.The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At ND Paper, we are investing in our future, and that starts with our staff.Key Responsibilities & Expected Results:Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.Performs all tasks safely and follows all safety procedures without fail.Follow all safety and company policies and procedures including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assigned.Understand, execute flawless and abide by all safety policies, practices and procedures.Comprehension of equipment technical documents, including but not limited to construction drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, plans, schematics and specifications.Troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs), A/C and D/C drives and the corresponding control systems.Ability to use maintenance software programs.Perform regular maintenance such as lubrication, cleaning and preventative tasks.Perform buildings and grounds maintenance, such as fire systems, HVAC, emergency light, etc.Perform and assist in project work.Train other team members to be capable of troubleshooting issues with equipment.Able to move materials, equipment and parts using various equipment (forklifts, hand carts, winches, hoists, scissor lifts, etc.)Capable of identifying an issue's root cause(s) and then collaborates with the team to ensure issues are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.Identify, order and communicate equipment, supplies and parts requirements.Ensure equipment is maintained in order to operate at OEM speeds and optimal uptime.Thoroughly completes all documentation and paperwork.Consistent adherence to company policies and procedures, including safety, housekeeping, good manufacturing practices.Maintain and repair a variety of machines and systems used in the production of corrugated paper boxes.Maintain a clean and organized work center that meets company 5S standards.Monitor, evaluate and adjust plant equipment and instrumentation.Record maintenance, problems, and repairs in log system.Assist in the set-up and tear down of production lines.Participate in collections system maintenance, repairs, and installationPerform other duties as assigned by management.Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)Work Order Completion Rate – % of assigned work orders completed on time (Target: 90–95%)Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) – Average time to fix equipment after a breakdown (Target: trending down)PM Completion Rate – % of preventive maintenance completed on schedule (Target: 95–100%)Qualifications and SkillsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDAt least 3 years box plant experienceCorrugator/Converting experience a plusBilingual in Mandarin or Spanish is a plusTechnical SkillsMechanical & Electrical Repair Skills – Bearings, belts, gearboxes, motors, sensors, and basic controlsTroubleshooting & Diagnostics – Ability to read prints, isolate faults, and identify root cause quicklyTools & Equipment Use – Proficient with hand tools, precision tools, meters, and maintenance systems (CMMS)Core Competencies (Results based)Troubleshooting & Problem Solving – Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, and process issues and implement effective, lasting fixesPreventive Maintenance Discipline – Executes PMs correctly, identifies early failure signs, and helps prevent unplanned downtimeSafety & Reliability Mindset – Works safely, follows LOTO/procedures, and focuses on long-term equipment reliability over quick fixesSuccess Profile (What great looks like)Equipment stays running with minimal unplanned downtime —you're preventing problems, not just reactingWork orders and PMs are completed on time, done right the first time, with clear documentationBreakdowns are fixed quickly and don't come back —your repairs actually stickYou're trusted by operators and supervisors because when something goes down, you handle itWork area, tools, and parts are organized and controlled, no scrambling or guessingYou follow safe practices every time —no shortcuts, no incidentsWorking ConditionsOnsite in a plant site.Attributes for SuccessHard work – tackle each task with determination, passion and creativity;
