Responsibilities The Respiratory Therapist – Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. Under general supervision and medical direction, performs respiratory care procedures, exercises judgment in accordance with physician’s treatment plan and within scope of departmental policies and procedures. Scope of practice includes patient/family assessment and management, resource management, care facilitation, and discharge planning as required. Core duties include assessing resident condition, administering prescribed therapy and aerosolized medications, observing and recording resident progress, providing in‑service training to residents, family members, and facility staff, and managing life support systems and artificial ventilator status as directed by protocol. Additional responsibilities: Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators. Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures. Initiate, monitor, and document respiratory care modalities. Perform assessments of residents’ cardiopulmonary status using physical assessment, history, lab findings and imaging. Execute tasks prior to treatment: review physician orders, chart checks, observe vital signs, educate residents, and communicate with nursing staff. Administer technical respiratory care procedures, manage medication dosages, and ensure proper equipment function. Inspect, test, and maintain equipment; perform administrative duties and record keeping. Assist in emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation; CPR certified. Document all resident care services and maintain accurate medical records. Set up and log oxygen and respiratory supplies. Instruct residents and families in procedures to facilitate cooperation and efficiency. Attend educational programs and read professional journals to maintain skills. Participate in interdisciplinary resident rounds, quality assurance data collection, and general equipment troubleshooting. Qualifications Completion of an NBRC‑approved and accredited respiratory therapy program and one year of clinical practice experience under medical direction. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification and State Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Availability to travel and temporarily reside in locations outside of the therapist’s primary home. Posted Salary Range: USD $59.00 - $62.00 /Hr. #J-18808-Ljbffr
