Supervisory Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation).

Responsibilities Directs administrative personnel involved in the processing of military service applicants. Provides training on various topics to stakeholders and subordinate staff. Maintains applicant records to ensure the safekeeping of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Distributes mission‑focused work assignments to subordinate staff to maintain efficient operations. Evaluates employee performance to support employee development and accountability. Conducts inspections to ensure applicant processing accuracy, file compliance, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Coordinates between multiple sections to ensure processing is completed within standards. Makes recommendations on initiatives to improve military processing functions. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation. This position may require occasional Saturday work and/or shift work. Ongoing unscheduled overtime may be necessary to accommodate workload fluctuations. The position has been designated as non‑sensitive and requires a personnel security background check. Temporary duty (TDY) business travel, including occasional overnight stays, may be required. A qualified typist must type 40 words per minute with a maximum of three errors based on a five‑minute sample. Qualifications In order to qualify, applicants must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through national service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, or social activities. Credit will be given for all qualifying experience. Transcripts will be required if the qualification is based on education. Specialized Experience: The resume must describe at least one year of experience that prepared the applicant to perform tasks equivalent to a GS‑07 grade level in the federal service. Appropriate experience includes: Performing quality review of applicant records or personnel documents. Utilizing automated systems to update military human resources personnel records. Providing guidance or training to stakeholders on military human resources procedures. Leading a group or team to ensure assigned tasks are completed. The applicant will be evaluated on competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes Information Oral Communication Teaches Others Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have at least 52 weeks of federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑07). If no GS‑07 position is available, 52 weeks at the second lower level (GS‑06) will be considered creditable. Education This position requires experience only; education substitution is not permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a pre‑employment certification statement for selective service registration. Proof of U.S. citizenship is required. A one‑year probationary period will be applied to evaluate fitness and continued employment aligns with the public interest. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Human Capital and Resources Management Career Field position. Salary includes locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Permanent change of station (PCS) allowances may be authorized under applicable regulations. Incentives may be authorized if in the best interest of the federal government.
