Teller - Part Time (On Site) Schedule This is a part-time position scheduled for approximately 20–25 hours per week. The regular schedule is: Monday–Friday: 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Saturday: 8:45 a.m.–1:15 p.m. Regular availability every Saturday is an essential requirement of the position. Some flexibility may be required based on the operational and staffing needs of the Credit Union. Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability are required. What you will do as the Teller The Part-Time Teller serves as a welcoming and dependable first point of contact for Texas DPS Credit Union members. This position provides accurate, efficient, and personalized service while processing routine financial transactions, responding to basic account questions, and helping members connect with the appropriate team member for additional assistance. The ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, trustworthy, and comfortable handling cash in a fast-paced member-service environment. This position requires consistent Saturday availability and flexibility to support the credit union during scheduled weekday hours. What You’ll Do Teller Transactions Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, check cashing, and other routine financial transactions accurately. Verify member identity, account ownership, endorsements, available balances, and transaction documentation before completing transactions. Process cash advances, cashier’s checks, money orders, and other approved teller services. Receive and accurately record night-drop and mail transactions, as assigned. Follow established check-hold, funds-availability, cash-handling, and transaction-approval procedures. Recognize potentially suspicious, fraudulent, or unusual activity and promptly escalates concerns. Maintain an assigned cash drawer within established limits and security requirements. Balance the cash drawer and related transaction records accurately at the end of each shift. Research and promptly report cash differences or transaction discrepancies. Maintain an organized and secure teller station. Member Experience Welcome members warmly and provide prompt, courteous, and professional service. Build positive member relationships by listening carefully and responding with patience and respect. Assist members with basic account questions and provide general information regarding credit union products, services, policies, and procedures. Direct members to a Member Service Specialist or other appropriate employee when their needs extend beyond teller responsibilities. Identify potential member needs and make appropriate referrals without using a high-pressure sales approach. Protect member confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial and personal information. Operational and Compliance Responsibilities Follow all applicable credit union policies, internal controls, security procedures, and regulatory requirements. Complete required training within established deadlines. Follow Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering, member identification, Office of Foreign Assets Control, privacy, and fraud-prevention requirements applicable to the position. Remain alert to security concerns and follow established procedures for robbery, fraud, suspicious activity, and other emergencies. Assist with opening and closing teller-line responsibilities, as assigned. Support lobby flow and help maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming member environment. Work cooperatively with other employees to provide consistent service and operational coverage. Perform other teller-related duties consistent with the position, as assigned. What We’re Looking For High school diploma or equivalent. Prior cash-handling, customer-service, retail, or teller experience preferred. Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations and balance cash. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to learn and follow financial institution policies, procedures, systems, and regulatory requirements. Ability to work approximately 20–25 hours per week, including every Saturday. Ability to successfully complete applicable background, employment, and other pre-employment screening requirements.
