Director, Economics, Real Estate and Urban Policy at AECOM New York, NY

AECOM Advisory is seeking a Director Economics Real Estate and Urban Policy to lead and expand our economics, urban policy and real‑estate service offering. The selected candidate will join a growing advisory business line with a global team of 400 staff composed of analysts, economists, strategists, technologists and planners. Responsibilities Lead quantitative and qualitative analysis to develop or evaluate strategies that address policy design, supply‑chain and social challenges. Direct project teams (5‑8 members) across inter‑dependent workstreams such as market analysis, financial feasibility, affordability studies, funding and financing strategy, economic and fiscal impact analysis, and program/policy evaluation. Manage multiple projects and deadlines, delegating tasks, mentoring staff, and ensuring quality and timely deliverables. Drive business development: respond to requests for proposals, represent the team internally and externally, and identify and originate new opportunities. Oversee proposal responses as Capture Manager, coordinating narrative development, technical solutions, pricing, subcontractor engagement, and risk review. Engage clients through high‑level interactions, deliver polished deliverables to meet expectations, and support practice area operational performance. Participate in industry conversations and professional networks to support business growth. Qualifications At least 12 years of real‑estate economics, public policy or related industry experience, or equivalent experience/education. Bachelor’s degree in economics, urban planning, public policy, business, real estate or related field. Preferred: 15+ years at a planning and economics consulting firm or equivalent in urban economics, real‑estate, urban planning, or public policy; Master’s degree in a related field. Experience leading quantitative and qualitative economic analysis for economic development, real‑estate, and public finance. Experience collaborating with urban planners, designers, and infrastructure experts (transportation, ports, water, environment, energy). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; technical skills with ArcGIS, R, Python, Costar, or similar spatial and data‑analysis tools. Strong interpersonal skills, client‑service mindset, and ability to act as a trusted adviser to executive audiences. Excellent communication, summarizing and conveying technical insights in a digestible manner to senior management. Team‑player able to work across a diverse, motivated consulting team. Additional Information This position will not offer sponsorship now or in the future. Relocation is not available for this role.
