Patient Registrar (Part-Time, Days) Location: Los Angeles, CA 90017 Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks Shift & Schedule Part-Time: 25 hours per week Schedule: MondayFriday, 5:00 AM 10:00 AM (5x5-hour shifts) No weekends Note: Orientation week schedule may differ; flexibility is required Position Summary The Patient Registration Representative I facilitates patient access to care at PIH Health facilities by performing registration and pre-registration for both outpatient and inpatient services. This role ensures accurate data collection, verifies insurance coverage, and secures patient financial responsibility (copayments, coinsurance, deductibles) in a professional and patient-focused manner. Key Responsibilities Register and pre-register patients for services Verify insurance eligibility and benefits Calculate and collect patient financial responsibility Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and internal staff Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment Required Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Basic math proficiency Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced setting Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and multi-system navigation) Typing speed of 45+ WPM Problem-solving and analytical abilities Strong customer service and phone skills Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of experience in a medical office, hospital, or billing environment Knowledge of medical terminology Experience with insurance and billing processes Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin) preferred Education & Requirements High School Diploma, GED, or higher education (physical copy required upon request) Prior experience in a healthcare or high-volume customer service setting Valid Drivers License (for outpatient roles requiring travel) Ability to travel to off-site locations (if required)
