Sous Chef

Sense Hospitality | HK, Nunzio’s & BlackFork Farms | Sioux Falls, SD Sense Hospitality is seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This position will work primarily alongside the Head Chef at HK while also learning the kitchen operations, menus, systems, and standards of Nunzio's and BlackFork Farms. This is a unique opportunity for a chef who wants to expand their experience beyond a single kitchen. We're looking for a versatile member of our culinary team who can step into each of our concepts as needed and help maintain consistency, quality, and strong kitchen operations across Sense Hospitality. The Role At HK, you'll work closely with the Head Chef on daily service, preparation, menu execution, and kitchen operations while continuing to develop your culinary skills in an elevated, multi-course dining environment. At the same time, you'll cross-train within Nunzio's and BlackFork Farms, learning each concept's menu, prep systems, service style, and kitchen operations. Over time, you'll become someone our culinary leadership can rely on to support any of our three kitchens confidently. Responsibilities Work alongside and support the HK Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and service. Assist with preparation and execution of HK's seasonal, multi-course menus Learn and maintain HK's recipes, plating standards, techniques, and service expectations Cross-train in the complete kitchen operations of Nunzio's and BlackFork Farms Become proficient in the menus, recipes, prep procedures, equipment, and service flow of all three concepts Step into other Sense Hospitality kitchens when additional culinary leadership or coverage is needed Help ensure consistency and quality across all food preparation and presentation Assist with daily prep, station organization, opening, service, and closing procedures Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, storage, and kitchen cleanliness standards Assist with inventory, product rotation, receiving, and minimizing food waste Communicate product, prep, staffing, and operational needs with culinary leadership Maintain composure, organization, and attention to detail during high-volume service Support special dinners, private events, wine dinners, and other Sense Hospitality culinary experiences Help create a collaborative kitchen culture built around quality, accountability, and hospitality What We're Looking For We're looking for someone with solid professional kitchen experience who wants to continue growing as a chef and leader. The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, organized, curious, and eager to learn . Because this position works across three very different concepts, you should be comfortable moving between elevated multi-course dining, approachable Italian cuisine, and the culinary offerings at BlackFork Farms. Previous sous chef, lead line cook, or similar kitchen leadership experience is preferred. Fine-dining experience is a plus, but we're also interested in a talented cook with strong fundamentals who is ready for the next step. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to understand how an entire culinary operation works , not simply master one station. Nunzio's — An approachable Italian concept featuring wood-fired pizza, house-made breads, pastas, and Italian-inspired dishes. BlackFork Farms — A spirits-focused tasting room and gathering space featuring food designed to complement BlackFork Farms' South Dakota spirits. The goal of this position is to develop a deep understanding of all three kitchens, creating opportunities for greater responsibility and continued growth within Sense Hospitality.
