Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS), providing expert care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. This role involves direct patient care and accountability throughout all phases of cath lab operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiac cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation.
• Serve as the first scrub assistant for adult diagnostic and interventional cases such as PTCA, stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertions.
• Operate fluoroscopic equipment and assist in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology (EP) studies, utilizing specialized EP equipment.
• Apply various radiographic injection techniques and manage hemodynamic recording and procedural documentation systems.
• Maintain proficiency with ACT and oximeter devices, and possess strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Collaborate effectively within a multifunctional team, prioritize tasks, and support sheath removal and hemostasis procedures.
• Manage supplies and equipment inventory using computerized systems, prepare requisitions, and support regulatory tracking for implantable devices.
• Provide leadership and serve as a resource for staff regarding equipment and supplies, fostering teamwork and acting as a liaison with Materials Management.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, LPN, RN, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical experience in the health field.

Experience

Preferred two years of experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and interventions is a plus.

Certification and Licenses

• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• IABP experience within six months of hire.
• Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT-CI credentials or obtain CCI-RCIS within 18 months of hire.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, wearing lead aprons during procedures, and frequent stooping, crouching, and twisting. Occasional kneeling, squatting, and sitting are necessary. The position involves supporting, pushing, pulling, or lifting weights up to 50 pounds in certain situations.

The work environment may include exposure to chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, explosive, radiation hazards, and other stressors such as noise and temperature variations.
