Behavioral Health Clinician

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides culturally relevant outpatient behavioral health treatment to individuals experiencing behavioral, emotional, and mental disorders. This role involves conducting individual, group, family, and marital therapy, performing biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, care coordination, and crisis intervention. The clinician actively participates in a multidisciplinary treatment team and maintains timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Clinical supervision is provided for clinicians not yet licensed. The clinician also shares responsibility for after-hours crisis intervention services across multiple clinic locations. Responsibilities:
- Implement culturally relevant screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapy for individuals, groups, and families.
- Utilize Trauma Informed Care principles in all patient, employee, and community interactions.
- Integrate mental health and substance use disorder interventions based on individualized assessments.
- Develop and review individualized treatment plans tailored to client needs.
- Provide care coordination, advocacy, motivational interviewing, education, and skill development.
- Enhance access to care by promoting coping strategies, self-care, and symptom management.
- Collaborate with clinical and paraprofessional team members to achieve treatment goals.
- Deliver crisis intervention services during clinic hours and participate in shared rotating after-hours crisis coverage in designated rural clinics.
- Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of services in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Self-monitor and fulfill licensure requirements according to licensing board standards.
- Adhere to confidentiality and information sharing policies per HIPAA and organizational guidelines.
- Coordinate care and referrals with internal health systems and community social agencies.
- Participate professionally in staff meetings, trainings, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Meet clinical productivity standards to support timely patient access.
- Respond promptly and professionally to coding, audit requests, and provider enrollment documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) preferred; clinical supervision provided for unlicensed clinicians.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
- Valid State of Alaska Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Experience and expertise in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Knowledge of behavioral health diagnostic criteria, evidence-based therapy methods, and federal/state reporting requirements.
- Ability to assess suicide/self-harm risk and develop safety plans.
- Strong documentation skills adhering to professional and regulatory standards.
- Alaska State Chemical Dependency Counselor I or MAC certificate or equivalent.
- Experience working with patients of all ages and diverse populations.
- Clinical competency assessment by SEARHC at 3 months and every 3 years thereafter.
- Shared rotating after-hours crisis intervention coverage in rural clinics including Haines, Klawock, Petersburg, and Wrangell.
- Must adhere to HIPAA and organizational confidentiality policies.
- Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing professional development required.
- Work schedule includes normal clinic hours with shared rotating after-hours crisis coverage.
- Shift assignments may include multiple clinic locations within Southeast Alaska.
$31.83 - $44.56 per hour
