Master Control Engineer – Miami, FL About the job The Network Engineering Department at Televisa Univision seeks a Master Control and Distribution Systems Engineer to manage and maintain all aspects of the onboard media playback and transmission infrastructure, both on‑premise and in cloud environments. Responsibilities Ensure uptime, configuration, preventive and corrective maintenance of file‑based on‑air media storage and play‑out automation systems, as well as Baseband, Encoding, Transmission, Satellite Antenna, RF, Transport Stream and IP‑based video systems. Support cloud‑based playout and distribution across multi‑vendor IaaS and SaaS platforms used by Univision. Install, maintain, evolve cloud‑based video playout, encoding and distribution platforms; support microservice‑based video processing workflows. Investigate and resolve encoding, packet loss, jitter, multicast, and playback issues in video streaming environments. Analyze root causes and drive issue resolution for encoding and distribution systems. Support & maintain IP‑based broadcast infrastructures using SMPTE ST 2110 standards (video 2110‑20, audio 2110‑30/31, ancillary 2110‑40). Configure and troubleshoot Precision Time Protocol (PTP, SMPTE ST 2059) timing systems in IP broadcast environments. Identify process improvement opportunities and lead automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reliability. Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications BS degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and server / workstation operation, configuration and support. In‑depth understanding of digital audio/video signals, compression, transmission methods, codecs and standards. Experience with SCTE messaging (104, 35, 224) and video/audio codecs (AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC). Knowledge of multimedia transport protocols such as RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, HLS and Zixi. Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, and to elevate issues to appropriate stakeholders. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills; Spanish is a plus. Availability to work scheduled periods, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays (24x7 operations).
